Who are we?
We are a family, father and daughter partnership, based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.
We commenced this business in April, 2007 after purchasing it from a fabulous couple from Queensland, who began trading in May, 2005.
Information about our Supplier and its products
Our supplier is a handmade paper product cooperative which specialises in producing HANDMADE PAPER and RECYCLED PAPER products. The basic raw material is waste paper, waste cotton fabrics from garment industries, agriculture waste like banana fibre, straw and water hyacinth. Paper is lifted manually and dried in sunlight. Later on paper is converted into paper products such as paper bags, boxes, greeting cards, note books, photo albums, photo frames, tags, wrapping paper, paper string and many other paper products.
There are 125 cooperative members. 13 are engaged in management and the rest are in production. 60% of the total team are women. Most of the people are from local villages, who have limited opportunities.
The work has provided working opportunities for them. As a result, there is a regular income for all. Such income is very meaningful as it provides not only basic support like food and housing but also opportunities for education for their children.
They allocate 40% of their profit to their sister organization. This organisation is involved in girl’s education, providing scholarships for more than 125 girls, physically supporting five schools, active in AIDS awareness and environmental awareness. They are registered with IFAT, The International Fair Trade Association.
Products which we design become part of their range which is sold locally and their colours and textures provide us, and hopefully you, with all the inspiration you need to Get Creative!
Our business relationship with them provides essential foreign income. By supporting us, you are supporting them in their endeavours to support themselves and their community and improve educational opportunities for their young.
Why do we do it?
We have a strong commitment to providing people with an opportunity to make proactive choices to safeguard and protect our natural environment.
It is evident that there are so many people out there just looking for an opportunity to save a tree and demonstrate their commitment to protecting our planet through their actions, not to mention extending a helping hand to those less fortunate than ourselves. Our business is one small way in which we can all contribute to this cause.
All our paper and cardboard is ACID FREE.
What is our vision?
At this stage we are focusing our energies on generating an awareness that an environmentally friendly option exists for not only cottage industries, which require a handmade enviromentally sound product to compliment their product, but also craft consumers, particularly scrap bookers, card makers and organisers of weddings (which generate huge quantities of stationery). It is possible to buy quality craft papers and products made from sustainable resources. Small steps, but we hope to expand our horizons as our business grows.

Our contemporary designs and colour matching are our strength. The simplicity of our designs allows the organic texture and vibrant colour of our handmade paper to be truly appreciated.
